A Note to Our Subscribers

Since World Blind Herald went live on January 4, our subscribers have been receiving three or four separate emails representing each post we publish. Some people have complained that this is too much, especially because they all arrive on Tuesday mornings. We understand that this is a problem and are currently working in our offline sandbox (we don't put new features online until we've thoroughly tested them) and expect to have this fixed so you only get one email per week unless something very important happens and we decide that it's urgent news and post it on a day other than Tuesday. You can go to the subscriber settings in the current emails and change to digest if you only want a single email until we get this worked out. Or you can bear with us for another week, two at most as we get it fixed on our side. Thank you for your understanding, we aim to continue to improve over time and appreciate your feedback.

Editorial By Chris Hofstader

This was a pretty interesting week in the world of science and medicine stories related to blindness.

Personally, I find a lot of the articles in this issue interesting. Because my vision problem is retinitis pigmentosa, I found the article about a cure for it to be quite interesting. I'm also dubious of the claims made in the article and do not understand the vocabulary of ophthalmic research well enough to read the original paper to get a better understanding. It's certainly optimistic but I've heard the term stem cells tossed around so much in a lot of science articles but then never hear about more advanced studies.

I hope you enjoy Edition 22 of Science Briefs.
